Position: Intern (Department placement determined by interest/experience)

This is a non-exempt position for college or graduate level students, as well as employees brought in on a temporary basis to determine if a match exists between the skill set of the intern and SIHO. The purpose of the internship is to prepare students and professionals for entry into the business world by providing a thorough understanding of the internal and external functions of a health insurance services organization and what it means to be an employee.
Brief Description of Duties:
• Interns must be willing and capable of performing any duties or projects assigned. This may include, but is not limited to, performing operational and administrative functions in addition to projects. Projects and duties are dependent upon the needs of the business.
• Understand ethics, compliance, and business conduct issues pertaining to the health insurance industry • Develop presentation, planning, organizational, and time management skills • Develop team-based work competencies and relationships including mentorship
Minimum Skills Requirement:
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products • Possess a passion for customer service • Excellent communications (oral and written) skills • Ability to work at a self-directed pace in a changing, multi-task environment • Professional appearance and presence • Commitment to support and maintain confidentiality in conformance to HIPAA guidelines • Accountable • Self-starter • Excellent listening skills • Ability to follow direction • Time management skills
